Synergy's player tracking data is derived from advanced camera technology that tracks player coordinates and basketball coordinates during games. This article will walk you through locating, filtering, and reading player tracking data.

Note: Player Tracking data is currently only available to select NBA teams.

Locating Player Tracking Data

To get to the player tracking data, you must first navigate to a Player Data Page or a Team Data Page. Follow the instructions below to navigate to either of these pages and locate player tracking data.

1.  Depending on what type of data you wish to view, you will click on the Player tab or the Team tab at the top of the Team Site.

2.  Adjust the filters on the left to narrow down your search, then select a player or team from the results list.

3. After you've made your selection, you will be taken to the Player Data Page or the Team Data Page. The player tracking data is divided into tabs, on the right side of the table:

  • Offense
  • Shots
  • Drives
  • Picks
  • Isolations
  • Posts
  • Speed Load

Filtering Player Tracking Data

Each player tracking category (except Speed Load) will have filters to the left, which can be used to adjust the tracking data.

Games Filters

You will see additional options appear if you select one of the Games filters at the top:

  • Date Range
  • Last X Games
  • Game Selector

Date Range

If you click on the Date Range filter, you will need to adjust the date range calendars.

Last X Games

If you click on the Last X Games filter, you will need to update how many games to include in your data. You can use the dropdown or type in an "X" amount of games and hit Enter.

Game Selector

If you click on the Game Selector filter, you will need make your games selections and then hit OK.

Reading Player Tracking Data

Most of the player tracking categories have been defined to give you a better understanding of the tracking data. Hovering your mouse over the information icons will reveal these definitions.

The player tracking data is divided into Visualizations and Tables. Both components will utilize the two Color Legends at the top of the page:

  • The LESS/MORE scale is based on frequency ranks.
  • The BAD/GOOD scale is based on points per chance (PPC) ranks.

Player Tracking Visualizations

Visualizations help summarize the player tracking data at a glance. These illustrations have been provided to complement the data in the player tracking tables.

Player Tracking Tables

When viewing the player tracking tables, you will need to utilize the dropdown icons to see all of the data available. Click on the dropdown icons to reveal tables, and breakdowns within those tables.

Hovering over a stat will tell you how that stat has been defined.
