Synergy Stats 1.33.0 - Release Notes (October 29, 2024)

The next Synergy Stats release is pushed and available. Version 1.33.0  focus for basketball is the new shot types and reordering of the shot types window, keyboard typing when modifying event's timestamp, and resolving bugs.

FIBA New Shot Types 

The current release of the Synergy Stats application finally gives the chance to the users to use the latest shot type officially recognized by FIBA with the statisticians' manual changes valid from September 1st, 2024. 

• Euro Step
  • Definition: A Euro Step is a move where the offensive player takes two – usually long – steps after a dribble, where the first step is in one direction and the second step is in the other. 
  • Example
• Reverse Layup
  • Definition: A reverse lay-up is a play where the offensive player drives from one side of the basket and makes a lay-up from the other side, using the basket/backboard as an additional protection against being blocked by a defender.

• Alley-oop Dunk
  • Definition: A shot involving a player catching a pass in the air and finishing with a dunk, before landing back on the court.

Adding these 3 new shot types changed the shot type order in the shot types window and now all the available 14 shot types are spread in 5 rows by commonness.

Editing the event's timestamp by typing from the keyboard 

The Synergy Stats team continues the work on implementing the editing from the main UI screen and provides the statisticians the option to quickly modify events and not waste time switching between screens and clicking extra. 1.33.0 introduces typing from the keyboard into the timestamp field once the event's clock is opened for editing on the Synergy Stats main screen. 

For the moment the user should put the mouse cursor after the digit for minutes or seconds, deletes the existing one, and then type the new one. In the next releases, the typing will be refined and enhanced for better user's experience, where the digits can be marked or typed over without the need to delete them before typing.

Other enhancements

• Fast Break actions are now marked as such in the action log of Synergy Stats main screen play by play

• Alert message 'Person can not have multiple roles' is added to the Staff confirming workflo and prevent the users to be able to assign the same person in more than one role when selecting coaches scenario

• Unsent Events is an available filtering option in the list with items and the users can always track if all events are sent 

If unsent events available and the connection to the internet is fine, the recommended actions for the user are to try to attempt the events, so they are not lost.

Fixed Bugs

• A major bug causing multiple games to reset to period 1 being in progress (moving to Period 3 or Period 4) is now fixed
• Missing player jersey numbers in Synergy Stats causing empty boxscore on website widgets
• The player's playing time not changing when the timestamp of an action is modified 
• Changing team rebound was not changing team color when modification is done via editing from the action log (main UI)
• Team Setup error for completed games where active players were missing when reopening confirmed games 
• User Login issue 'No data found for resource with given identifier'
• Bench/Coach Foul options not reset when clicking on Go Back and selecting a player instead of bench/coach
• Go Back from the 'Assist' screen during 'Foul on the Shot' scenario does not remove the foul after unticking the 'foul on the shot' box
