MADE SHOT WORKFLOW

Select court location

Select a court location by clicking on the Synergy Stats graphical court image as close as possible to where the shot realistically was taken. An additional game actions menu is thrown open - presenting the primary statistical actions - Made/Missed Shot, Foul, and Turnover.

The exact court location selection will determine if the attempted shot is worth 2 points or 3 points. Clicking outside the 3-point arc registers a 3-point shot attempt and clicking inside - 2 points attempt.

Note: The shot location is unofficially adopted to be the spot where the player’s feet are last positioned before he/she released his/her body from the floor prior to the field goal attempt.

  1. Select MADE 2/MADE 3 button

Select the Made2/MADE 3 button 2/Made 3 button from the popping-out actions menu for the team in possession of the ball. The player who attempts the shot should normally belong to the team with active - the one in offense.

TIP: Always select the buttons of the team attempting the shot matching color.
(Example: The white team attempts a shot -> click on MADE 2 button in white color)

Note: If a user clicks on the court location immediately close to the home team but selects the away team belonging MADE 2 button, the scored points will be registered as a 3-pointer, because of the incorrect pairing of location vs. team performed the action.

SELECT THE SHOOTING PLAYER

Select the shooting player by clicking on the player's jersey number tile in the SELECT PLAYER THAT TOOK THE SHOT modal

Note: Users can assign actions to Bench players with Synergy Stats application in case the shooter is not on the court after missed or incorrect substitution.

SELECT SHOT TYPE

Note: When applying the shot type, the user should be able to clearly recognize them. If not comfortable with shot types knowledge, review the related article - Shot type (FIBA Rules).

 MADE SHOT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Add information if the made shot is on Fast Break, accompanied by Foul on the Shot (AND 1) or a result of Defensive Goaltend(ing), by ticking on the respective checkbox in the shot types modal

If none of these shot attributes are available with the made field goal attempt registered, leave them unticked and click on the green OK button to close the workflow. The action sequence is then finished and will be listed in the Action Log along the right side of the Game Screen

  • Foul on the Shot

  • Fast Break

  • Defensive Goaltend(ing)

The user ticks the 'Defensive Goaltend(ing)' checkbox when the basket is a result of a violation by the defending player, who interferes with the ball during the act of shooting and the ball’s flight to the basket. The referees will call the violation, use the respective signalization, and will count the points from the field goal attempt relevant to the shot outcome.

The shot made is recorded in the same manner as a standard basket, and points are assigned to the shooter, and the tag 'Defensive  goaltend(ing)' only informs that the points result from a violation of the defender. The marker is for Play by Play LIVE purposes and will not be registered in the Synergy Stats; actions list or any of the reports.

Tip: For even better work performance the statisticians might discuss with table officials which player will get the points off the defensive goaltending violation in the official scoresheet, to make sure the boxscore and player’s points count are aligned.

Close the action sequence by clicking the button at the bottom of the modal

ADD ASSIST/NO ASSIST

Select Assist Player - Add Assist/No Assist by clicking on player’s number or “No Assist” button

Note: The player who made the basket is greyed out and you cannot be selected (the shooter cannot give an assist to himself).

Synergy Stats Play-by-Play Journal (actions list):

If no assist accompanies the successful field goal attempt, the user clicks on . The action sequence is then finished, and the modal is closed.

Note: The Play-by-Play Journal (action list) on the right side of the main screen does not display 'fast break' and 'goaltend(ing)' for the moment. These attributes are only visible in the Play-by-Play (Synergy Stats reports and LIVE widget).

The action sequence is then finished and will be listed in the Action Log along the right side of the Game Screen.
