Modified on Fri, 26 Apr 2024 at 04:39 AM

The Synergy Stats team is sharing some insights for the latest release of the application - version 1.14.3. The main focus of the current release stays the way generated reports handle the umpires in a basketball game. Two actions editing enhancements are accommodated, as well as a bug where substitutions were not always handled properly.

Improvements, enhancements, and functionalities from the release:
  • All reports now populate umpires' roles accurately according to FIBA official rules
  • Two enhancements on actions editing are presented to facilitate the statisticians' work
  • Fix on substitutions not behaving always accurately is presented within the version
  • Validation error for foul events

Umpires in Synergy Stats (Reports)

Users can now assign game officials for their respective games by nominating:

For 3 referees crew games:

  • Crew Chief
  • Umpire 1
  • Umpire 2

or

For 2 referees crew games:

  • Chief Crew
  • Umpire

Tip: In no game, a combination of Umpire and Umpire 1, or Umpire and Umpire 2 should be present according to official FIBA rules.

An organization has 2 ways to approach game officials' nominations:

1. Via competition management system - CMAN or Comp Admin

Once this is completed, statisticians will be able to see the names and roles of the games officials when setting up the game on the 'Game Details Screen'

2. Directly in Synergy Stats application on the 'Game Details' screen from the drop-down menu - assigning a role and name for each of the officials.

When game officials - referees and umpires are added to a game, the user can now correctly see them (role-name) across all reports generated by Synergy Stats.

The order in which the referees will appear is Role: Name.

Enhancements on actions-editing:

  • Users as of now can adjust the Synergy Stats game clock back to 10:00 min (FIBA rules quarter duration) or 5:00 mins (FIBA rules overtime duration), or simply to the beginning of the period, to add a missed substitution or edit an existing but incorrect one.

Example: if a user realizes that he/she missed a substitution 15 seconds after the period start, the correct actions should be - whenever there is a break, to add a substitution before the very first action in the quarter/period - with a time stamp 10:00.

  • Inserting an action after the last action in a period and before the quarter's end is an option for the users. A new icon is available mceclip6.png

When the user clicks on the newly presented icon, Synergy Stats will activate the 'Insert' mode and an action can be added prior to quarter end.

Example: last shot in a period (buzzer beater) when the clock runs out and the quarter is confirmed.

BUGS FIXED:

  • An issue where the substitutions workflow was not performing as expected, and do not always sub out a player, which puts more than 5 players on the court is resolved. The substitutions workflow should be back to normal;
  • Validation errors for foul types are fixed
Coming up next
In the next Synergy Stats release, we will be fixing a number of other bugs and introducing more enhancements, including:
  • Score/Clock notification system
  • Multiple fouls within 'Free Throws' screen enhancements
  • Scoresheet enhancements
  • Reports enhancements - single page view for print
