Starting a Live Capture

Modified on Tue, 30 Apr 2024 at 12:03 AM

Overview

Live Capture is a vital tool within the Synergy Editor Max. This feature allows you to capture your practice, games, and more, directly into the Editor for immediate review, scouting, or teaching purposes.

Getting Started

Setting up your camera hardware is an important first step. If you are using a stand-alone camera to capture your video, please follow the instructions listed for the AJA U-TAP Capture Device. Once you have your devices set up, you are ready to start a live capture. To initiate a live capture from the Editor, select the New Live Capture button from the top right of the application, or select the + icon from the bottom right of any open panel and select New Live Capture from the menu.

The New Live Capture window will appear, giving you options to input:

  • There is a checkbox to Create Edit, this will automatically create a custom edit within the Editor where your live capture will save to during the capture. If you select this, you also are able to give your set your Edit Name in the associated text box.
  • Change the File Name to something distinct for future reference, as the video file for your capture will be saved under the Videos tab at the top of the application with the file name as the title.
  • Set your Event Type to Game, Exhibition, Practice, or Other.
  • Select your Video input. When using a stand-alone camera, connect through the AJA U-TAP device. To live capture through the Synergy Automated Camera System, or connect to a different RTMP stream, follow the instructions listed here.
  • Select your Audio input if available.
  • Push to Synergy Cloud, making the video available to all users on your team's account as it is captured.
  • Performance Mode creates a 15 second delay, allowing for a more fluid live viewing if you are experiencing poor connectivity or you are recording to an device with lesser performance.

Initiating a live capture can also be started by selecting the Start/Stop Capture button located above the timeline view. This will open the same capture window described above. Input the requested information and click OK to start your capture.
