This section will guide you through effectively using the Timeline feature in the Synergy Editor Max to segment your practice drills, analyze statistics and video, and share your insights with your team.
Understanding Timelines and Segments
- Timelines: In the Synergy Editor Max, a practice Timeline represents a complete practice session.
- Segments: Segments allow you to divide your practice Timeline into different drill types. This segmentation is crucial for analyzing stats and video, specifically for each drill type, without the clutter of other drills.
Creating and Managing Segments
Segments are powerful tools for focused analysis.
Creating a New Segment:
Select a spot on the Timeline where you want a new segment to begin, then click the Add Timeline Segment button.
This action will open the Timeline Segment Library.
You can use the search bar to find an existing segment type. Alternatively, click the ADD button to create a new segment title. You can also choose a color to associate with your segment title.
A new segment will be created, starting from your selected point and extending to the end of the timeline or until the next segment line. You can then drag the in and out points of the segment to precisely define the desired time range for that segment.
Using the Segment Filter:
- To focus on a particular segment type, use the Segment Filter.
- When a segment is filtered, only clips within that selected segment type will be displayed.
Analyzing Segments
Box Score for Segments: With a single segment filtered, you can view or print a box score specifically for that segment, providing a clean view of the drill's performance without other practice data.
The following pop-up will display, informing you that the Timeline has a Segment Filter applied, and will limit the data displayed.
The box score of just the specified segment will then be displayed, and is available to print.
Creating Custom Edits from Segments:
Filter for a single segment, then select all the rows (clips) within that segment.
Right-click and choose Create a Custom Edit from the menu. This will create a new Custom Edit containing only the clips from your selected segment.
Publishing Timelines to the Synergy Team Site
Publishing your segmented Timelines to the Team Site allows for broader team access and more refined analysis.
How to Publish:
Click the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) for the Timeline you wish to publish. From the dropdown menu, select Team Site, then Publish. This action publishes the entire Timeline to the Synergy Team Site.
Viewing Published Timelines on the Team Site:
Once published, you can filter all your practices on the Team Site by Segment title (drill type). Use the Segment Dropdown Menu on the Team Site, which will list all segment titles from your published practices.
Select the segment (drill type) you want to review. The Team Site will then display only those segmented clips across all your published practices, offering a highly refined view of player performance in specific scenarios over multiple practices.
Important Considerations for Team Site Display:
For a clip to be displayed on the Team Site, it must have a player tagged and a stat associated with it.
If you make any adjustments to your Timeline after it has been published to the Team Site, you must publish it again for those changes to be visible on the Team Site.
