Softball Mobile App: Bullpen

Modified on Tue, 21 Jul at 8:16 PM

Bullpen sessions differ from Sim Game sessions because it focuses on pitcher development rather than game situations. Bullpen removes unnecessary game concepts such as Line Score, Batter, Fielders and Home/Away teams. Instead, it emphasizes Strike Zone, Pitch Location and Pitch Execution.

Creating a Bullpen Session

To create a new Bullpen session, navigate to the Logger page and use the pill button to toggle to Practices. This will display your existing practice sessions. Tap the + New Practice button to create a new session.

Select the Date, League, choose Bullpen for the Practice Type and select your Team. When your entry is complete, tap Save to create the Bullpen session

Set your pitching order on the Order screen. Tap a player from the roster on the right to add them to the pitching order. You can add any additional or missing players to the roster using the Player Search tool or the Add Player+ button. Once your order has been set, tap Apply to save.

Logging Pitches

The pitching order is displayed along the top of the screen. Tap a name to select the active pitcher. To log a pitch, tap Mark Pitch Release a single time to create a timestamp. This timestamp will apply a default 3 second lead and lag, generating a 6 second clip. You can adjust the clip timing in the Display Settings.

 After marking, you may:

  • Enter data for the Pitch
  • Remove the timestamp with the Remove Pitch Release button
  • Tap Mark Swing/Take again for the next pitch (timestamp only)
  • Tap Apply to save the pitch with your logged data

Pitch data options include:

  • Pitch Type - Tag the Pitch Type

  • Location - Tag Pitch Location, set an Intended Pitch Zone, Pitch Execution (Success or Miss)

  • Velocity - Tag the Pitch Velocity

Note: From all three of the Bullpen logging screens, you can add a Hitter by selecting the L for left-handed hitter or R for right-handed hitter in the upper right . You can also tag if the pitch was a Wind Up or a Stretch.
