In this article, we will discuss how to log a game using the Synergy Team Logger.
How to Log a Game
To get started, select the Games view in the menu bar in the upper right. Choose the game you'd like to log by clicking the corresponding radio button to the left in the games list.
If you do not see the game you'd like to log in to the list and apply or reset the filters using the Reset All button above the list It is also possible that the game may not have been created yet.
Continue by selecting the Log button located in the menu bar to the upper right of the Log window. At the top of the screen, is the box score that indicates the date of the game, which teams are playing, the innings, runs scored in each inning, and the cumulative runs, hits, and errors during the game. Next to the box score are the Capture Video, Logger, and Play-by-Play buttons. These will be covered later in this article.
Pitcher Information
Below the box score is the pitcher information and batter information. On the left side of the screen, the pitcher information lists the pitcher, pitch count, catcher, and if the pitcher throws with their left or right hand.
To log a pitching change, click on the pitcher's name and select the new pitcher from the roster pop-up. Click Done to apply the changes.
Batter Information
To the right of the pitcher and catcher information, is the batter information. It displays the previous batter, the current batter's name, on deck hitter, and the number for each.
If a lineup change occurs, you can choose a new batter using a similar process to pitchers and catchers, this time selecting through the available batters.
Scroll through the lineup to choose which hitter's at-bat to log by using the up and down arrows next to the batter's information. Additionally, use the L and R buttons to designate whether the batter hits left or right-handed for this at-bat.
Choosing Pitch Types, Speed, Location, and Results
The Baseball Team Logger allows you to track many additional types of pitching information. These options include pitch types, speed, location, and pitch results. Begin by choosing a pitch type, located from the left side of the screen.
All pitch types are associated with a hotkey that allows you to easily log a pitch type by using shortcuts on your keyboard. Hotkeys are conveniently listed next to the respective pitch.
To designate the location of the pitch, use your mouse or trackpad to easily log the pitch location within the pitch location graphic and designate the pitch result or non-ball in-play result.
Use the pitch speed scroll bar below the graphic to log the pitch speed. This scroll bar can be changed using the up and down arrows.
If you'd like to change the view type do so by clicking on the Pitcher view or Catcher view buttons below the pitch speed scroll bar.
At any time if you'd like to clear this information do so by clicking on the Clear button next to the views.
Pitch types include (hotkey listed in parentheses):
- Fastball (1)

Additionally, there are pitch types listed below the scroll list for other types of pitching events. These include:
- Unknown (U)
- Intentional Ball (V)
- Pitchout (P)
After a pitch type has been selected, choose a pitch location.
Under pitch result, log whether each pitch was
- (B) for a ball
- (T) for a called strike
- (S) for a swinging strike
- (F) for a foul ball
- (D) for in play
If a pitch did not result as a ball in play, log it using the following "Non-BIP Result"
- (K) strikeout
- (W) walk
- (N) intentional walk
- (H) Hit by pitch
- (C) catcher's interference
- (Y) Hitter's interference
- (Z) using the drop-down choose the runner who struck out and reached base by either wild pitch or passed ball
Selecting Swing or Bunt Types
Below the Pitch Result and non-BIP result section is select Swing Type and select Bunt Type. In order to choose the swing type or bunt type, click on the respective drop-down and select from the list.
Swing Types:

- Slap Swing
- Fake Bunt Swing

Bunt Types:
- Bunt Sacrifice
- Bunt Hit
- Bunt Suicide Squeeze

Use the radio buttons next to the swing and bunt type to designate whether a swing was a check swing or resulted in a broken bat.
How to Log Ball in Play Events
Next to the hitter's information in the upper right is the Ball in Play Graphic. Click on this graphic to bring up the ball in play logger. Determine the following for each ball in play. Every event that can be logged is defined, with the associated hotkeys, as listed below. If you would like to show or hide the field zone in the window, click on Show Field Zone or Hide Field Zone respectively.

- (V) pop up

- (Q) out Using the drop-down this can be labeled as Infield Fly Rule or a regular Out

On the right is the positional grid that lets you quickly identify and log who is at bat using their position number as a shortcut. To log a player's ball in play click on the associated number of their position to add them to the list. These players will appear in the list shown below the positional grid.
Above the player position numbers is the counting grid. Click on any of the Balls, Strikes, or Outs to change the associated number.
Once the ball-in-play information has been logged, click on Apply to save.
How to Log Baserunning Events
Next to the Ball-in-Play window is the Baserunning view that lets you log base running events. Click to start logging baserunning events.
Once you've logged players into the game, their information will appear on the left side of the screen. To begin logging base running events, click on the corresponding base they advanced to where you will see the information below.
Use the + or - button to add a player or remove a player from a base. When clicked, choose the player from the roster. An arrow that points forward or back can designate where the baserunner moves in the next event.
On the right side of the screen are the RBI, corresponding totals, and balls, strikes, and outs markers. Click on these to designate if a player's at-bat ended in an RBI, how many, and to designate what the count is.
Underneath the RBI and count is the Advance and Out Result events that are available to log. Each comes with its own corresponding hotkey listed below in parentheses.

Use the Runner Going and Delayed Steal radio buttons below the Advance (Non-BIP) and Out Result lists to designate the respective events.
At the bottom of the screen, quickly go to the next or previous at-bats by clicking Prev At Bat or Next At Bat.
Once all events have been logged, click Apply to save.
Using Play by Play
Located in the upper right is the Play by Play View. This view presents all logged information in by inning, hit type, and hit result.
From here, you can edit all information after it has been entered by using the editing tools available.
Starting on the left where players' names are visible and grouped by the sequence of events that occur in each inning, use the + button to go back to the logging screen or use the X button to remove this event associated with this player.
Resort this view to show in a complete list instead of by inning. Clicking on the List button above the player name to sort. Click the Inning button to revert the view back.
On the right, use the + button to add a new event to the hit type and hit result list, click the button that resembles a pencil to return to the Logger view to edit the event type. Use the X icon to remove the specific event from the list. Click the Play button to play the video associated with the event.
Click Add Last to add a blank event at the end of the list.
Click the arrow next to PDF to begin the process of downloading the list view into a PDF. This PDF can be used to upload the pitch chart into Synergy Video Express.
Settings
To access the Team Logger settings, click on the Settings button above the count and pitch type list.
When configuring your settings, press Update to save them.
