Worldwide scoreboards usually display light color digits/numbers which are mostly white, in a darker background, which are mostly black. However, some arenas might present a different layout, especially in the US. Although the default configuration is suppose to deal better with backgrounds that are darker, our deep learning OCR is capable of performing the proper reading in both scenarios. This will provide accurate readings for both white digits on black backgrounds or black digits on white backgrounds. Please see the information below in order to fix this matter.
To begin, you must select the preferred reader that is having this type of issue. Once within the tab with the DL OCR configuration settings, it is important to set whether the background is darker than the digits on it. As the default configuration is suppose to deal with dark backgrounds, nothing should be done if this is case that is happening. If there are numbers placed in a light color background, as in the image above, then you must add the configuration key: background_is_darker = false". Without this configuration, the DL OCR is not going to deal well with the numbers which will increase the inaccuracy dramatically. It is possible to apply this configuration key for each individual number, as well as applying it for the whole scoreboard.
Friendly Reminder: Please, make sure everything is set properly and tested before an official game.
